Shorewood Crossing is a shopping center in Shorewood, Illinois. It begun construction in 2001. In 2005, construction began on the second half of the shopping center and it was completed the following year. The shopping center currently consists of Mariano's, Party City, Staples, and Petco.

History[]

The shopping center opened in 2001 with Dominick's, a Dominick's branded gas station, a Standard Bank, and some small stores and restaurants. Some time in-between the construction of the bigger buildings, a Wendy's was opened between the Dominick's gas station and Standard Bank. Construction on the second half of the shopping center was completed by 2006, with Party City, Staples, Petco, and Babies "R" Us all opening the same year. Also opening in 2006 were a NTB Auto Center, a TCF Bank, and a Taco Bell. By 2012, notable stores and restaurants opened in the strip malls, such as TBCY, AT&T, and Play It Again Sports. Dominick's would close in 2013 following the store's bankruptcy and the space, along with the gas station, would stand unused until 2015 when the gas station was demolished. Mariano's would replace Dominick's in 2016 and a Noodles and Company would open along side a Mattress Firm where the gas station stood.

In 2017, Toys "R" Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and in 2018 announced they would close all Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us stores throughout the year, including the one in Shorewood. As of 2021, NTB, Mattress Firm, and Play It Again Sports have also closed. NTB was later replaced by Mavis Tires & Brakes but the other stores are still vacant.
