Regent Mall is a shopping mall located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
History[]
The mall first opened during the year 1976 with 3 anchors: Dominion, Woolco and Sears. The mall was very successful in the 1980's. Around this time, a brand new IMAX Theatres opened inside the mall. In 1987, Dominion was converted to Village Food Stores. Woolco was replaced with Walmart in 1994 after Walmart bought the Canadian division of Woolco. A brand new Toys "R" Us opened in 1995. In the same year, Village Food Stores closed. During the end of the 1990's, a brand new Chapters opened next to Toys "R" Us. Smitty's took over the former Atlantic Super Valu grocery market by 2003. A new retail power centre, Corbett Centre opened diagonally across the street from the mall, which didn't affect the mall's tenants or anchor stores. Smitty's closed by January 2012; where Sport Chek later took its place expanding from another neighboring area of the mall. A new H&M opened during the year 2012. By the year 2018, Sears closed due to bankruptcy, the area was later split between The Brick and Dollarama. H&M closed during the year 2019. Old Navy opened at the former H&M space in September 2019.
