Place du Royaume is a Canadian shopping mall located at Chicoutimi, Quebec, it is the largest mall in northern Quebec having over 140 tenants and is owned by Primaris REIT.

History[]

The mall opened by August 1973, Steinberg's and Woolco were the first anchor tenants of the mall, there was also a movie theater that opened at the mall area, 4 years later in 1977, la Baie d'Hudson and Canadian Tire were added as anchor tenants, Steinberg's was converted into Parade in 1985 which was a store owned by Steinberg's, eventually in 1992, Parade would close and be replaced with Héritage, they would also sell parts of the former Steinberg's and Parade space to other retailers. By January 1994, Woolco was replaced with Walmart after their buyout, 2 years later, Héritage would be replaced with Provigo, new tenants began opening after that, Toys "R" Us was one of those new tenants, another anchor tenant Consumers Distributing closed its doors due to bankruptcy in 1996. Toys "R" Us closed their location during the late 2000's, also around this time, la Baie d'Hudson closed its doors at the mall as well while Provigo was replaced with Future Shop, also during the late 2000's, Winners, Sports Experts/Atmosphere and L'Équipeur would open at the former la Baie d'Hudson space. In the year 2015, Future Shop was replaced with Best Buy.
