Papa Murphy's is an American pizza restaurant that currently has over 1,500 locations across Canada, United Arab Emirates and the United States, the company is currently owned by the MTY Food Group.
History[]
The chain was originally split between two different companies, with Papa Aldo's Pizza being established at Hillsboro, Oregon in 1981, and Murphy's Pizza being established at Petaluma, California in 1984, both chains would co-exist until the year 1995 when the officially decided to merge into Papa Murphy's.
In 2003, Papa Murphy's would be voted as one of the best pizza chains in the United States by far, seven years later, Lee Equity Partners would buy out Papa Murphy's, afterwards the chain began growing in terms of revenue, reaching over $800 million by the year 2012.
The chain's owner, Lee Equity Partners was declining which would lead to Papa Murphy's being bought out by the MTY Food Group on May 23, 2019, by October 2022, Papa Murphy's would be involved in a class-action lawsuit as it was claimed that Papa Murphy's had been secretly wiretapping private conversations of everyone who had used the company's online chat feature.
