Highfield Square was a shopping mall located in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, it opened in 1967 and closed by the year 2013 with the property being converted into a sport centre called Avenir Centre, the mall's mascot is named Hifie the Bear.
History[]
The mall opended during the year 1974 with its main anchors being Eaton's, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sobeys, the mall also had a large food court that included Pizza Delight, A&W, Tim Hortons and Deluxe French Fries. In 1999, Eaton's closed their location at the mall, later being replaced with Hudson's Bay in 2000. Sobeys and Shoppers Drug Mart both relocated to free-standing buildings. On April 21, 2012, Hudson's Bay closed which left the mall with no anchors, the mall closed in the year 2013 and was later demolished by the year 2015 to build Avenir Centre, which opened on September 2018.
