Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, also known as Pentagon City Mall, is a shopping mall in Pentagon City neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia near Interstate 395 and Hayes Street. The mall takes its logo from the architectural design of Washington Tower. Its Metro level is directly connected to the Pentagon City station on the Blue and Yellow Lines of the Washington Metro.
Completed in October 1989, the Fashion Centre is the largest enclosed shopping mall in Arlington, housing 164 retailers and restaurants. It is anchored by department stores Macy's and Nordstrom, and is directly connected to the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City hotel.
The mall is part of the larger Pentagon City area, about 116 acres that hold some of the last undeveloped tracts near a Metrorail station in Arlington.
The 1.5-million-square-foot complex takes up most of a huge block bordered by Army-Navy Drive, South Hayes Street, 15th Street South and South Joyce Street.
The Pentagon City developers are counting on several factors to ensure their success here. To start with, there is the Metro, which is expected to bring in customers not only from Arlington, Alexandria and other parts of Northern Virginia, but also from the District and Maryland. The developers say the combination of Macy's and Nordstrom will be a potent draw. Each of the chains has a store in the Tysons Corner area but not at the same mall. Neither has stores in Montgomery County or the District.
History[]

Macy's
The mall was originally planned to be anchored by Bamberger's. A portion of Fashion Centre is at the lower levels of Washington Tower office building, the former home of MCI's Consumer Markets headquarters.
Fashion Centre at Pentagon City opened on October 5, 1989.
It was built by Melvin Simon & Associates, which sold the bulk of its interest in 1991 to a series of institutional investors, while retaining a quarter interest and management of the center. Simon Property Group, the successor to the Simon shopping mall interests, raised its stake and now jointly owns the center with CalPERS.
In 2013, the mall opened an expanded Forever 21.
Zara opened at the mall in 2016.
