Dartmouth Crossing is a power centre located in Burnside, NS, Canada.

History[]

In 2006, construction started on Dartmouth Crossing. The initial phase costed over 280 million dollars to construct. It was built on the edge of the Burnside industrial park. At the time, this project was the largest retail development in Canada east of Calgary.

The first stores opened in 2007, which were Walmart (Later Walmart Supercentre.) which replaced the Penhorn Mall location, Canadian Tire, which replaced the Tacoma Centre Mall location, and a Home Depot, which replaced the Baker Drive location. soon after, more retailers in Dartmouth Crossing were built, such as Costco Wholesale, Best Buy, and others.

"The Village Shops" is a section of the power centre which acts as the main street of Dartmouth Crossing, it has many smaller shops and restaurants and a playground. This section is split in two parts, with Grassy Brook Park being in between them.

Next to The Village Shops is the entertainment area, this includes a 12 screen Cineplex Theatres and several restaurants

In 2016, a new section of Dartmouth Crossing started construction. This section includes many other major retailers, such as IKEA (This is isn't the first time an IKEA has been in Burnside, in the 1980s, there was an IKEA located at the other end of Burnside, which closed many years ago.) and Kent. There is also a Playdium arcade. By late 2017, this section had its first store opened, IKEA. In 2018, Kent opened, and in 2019, Bass Pro Shops opened. As of 2024, most of this new section is filled in with retailers.

In 2022, construction started on the final phase of Dartmouth Crossing, which is a residential area that will have many apartments and condos. As part of this phase, a grocery store will also be built. As of 2024, a tender has not been put out yet, but it will most likely be a Sobeys or Atlantic Superstore.

In April 2024, Denny's opened its first Halifax location in Dartmouth Crossing, its located within a new hotel that was built.

Dartmouth Crossing continues to be a very successful Power centre, and they will continue to open new stores.
