Chapel Hill Mall was a one-level shopping mall 7.9 miles (12.7 km) northeast of downtown Akron, Ohio, between Brittain Road, Buchholzer Boulevard, and Independence Avenue in the Chapel Hill neighborhood in the city of Akron. The mall had three anchors which once housed JCPenney, Macy's and Sears.

Mall History[]

Chapel Hill Mall opened in 1967 and was the second mall in the Akron area, first being Summit Mall in Fairlawn. Chapel Hill opened with four anchors, JCPenney, Sears, O'Neil's and Woolworth. Other original tenants included A&P, Kroger, Akron National Bank, Foxmoor Casuals, Goodyear, Gray Drug, Thom McAn, Nobil's Shoes, Zale's Jewelers, Fanny Farmer Candies, New York Bakery and many more. There was also a two-screen movie theater in the mall opened by General Cinema.
