Books-A-Million (BAM!) is a bookstore. It is the second-largest bookstore chain, after Barnes & Noble. BAM! became the second-largest bookstore after bookseller Borders and subsidiary Waldenbooks filed for bankruptcy in 2011.

History[]
The first BAM! opened as Charlie's Bookstore in 1950. A few years later, he renamed the store Bookland. By 1980, there were 50 stores. In 1988, the first Books-A-Million store opened. In 1992, BAM! purchased Books & Company. BAM! later opened a used bookstore called 2nd & Charles. In 2001, BAM! started opening some Joe Muggs coffee shops inside stores. In 2010, BAM! purchased Yogurt Mountain, which is a self-serve yogurt concept.

2nd & Charles is a used bookstore that is currently owned by Books-A-Million.
In September 2010, the company launched 2nd & Charles, a trader of used media, with its first store in Hoover, Alabama across from Riverchase Galleria. In 2017, it opened its first store in North Alabama.
