History[]

In August 1978, Beachwood Place had officially opened to the public, developed by The Rouse Company, it originally only had two anchors at opening which were Higbee's and Saks Fifth Avenue. Beachwood Place was a major success at opening and was one of the more unique designed malls in the Cleveland area, the mall was also heavily targeted as a luxury mall. Beachwood Place is also responsible for the death of two other Cleveland area malls which were the Randall Park Mall in North Randall and Severance Town Center in Cleveland Heights. In 1992, Higbee's was converted into Dillard's. In September 1997, Beachwood Place was expanded, the expansion added a third anchor to the mall which was Nordstrom, other new changes was a third floor being added to the Dillard's store along with the expansion of Saks Fifth Avenue. In 2004, The Rouse Company was acquired by General Growth Properties, who quickly began to renovate the mall, the renovations were fully completed in December 2007.
